Sometimes data loss happens in spite of your best efforts to prevent it. If the drive has failed, is clicking, grinding, or malfunctioning, we strongly advise that you immediately turn it off. We suggest that you only let professionally trained data recovery engineers work on it. Further damage can occur if you try to fix it yourself, especially if you hear scraping, grinding, clicking or other unusual sounds. These sounds indicate that something is scraping the platter surfaces and could make any chance of successful recovery impossible.
If your hard drive contains vital company data, please, do not take unnecessary risks. Turn the computer off and get expert help from a reputable data recovery company to avoid the consequences of permanent data loss.
When you experience a hard drive or RAID failure and need data recovery, call a recovery professional.
Here are some steps to take that will increase your chances of a successful recovery:
Don't Panic.
Turn off the power.
Do not re-install any software.
Do not format the drive.
Remove the hard drive (if a RAID array be sure to number them accordingly)
Do not open the hard disk, or try to repair it yourself
Do not try to reconfigure or re-initialize the RAID array.
Some facts: “U.S. businesses lose over $12 billion per year because of data loss.
Hardware or system failure accounts for 78% of all data loss.
Human error accounts for 11% of all data loss.
Software corruption accounts for 7% of all data loss.
Natural disasters account for only 1% of all data loss.”
